#00-A2: We who Guard the Northern Vigil

Few months have passed since the psychic assault of the Scourge on the dreams of Aeonia’s denizens and its sudden expansion in the North. This has caused unrest among the sovereigns and scholars of Aeonia who have unanimously decided to bolster the ranks of the Northern Vigil by sending supplies and troops. Livingbounds from the furthest reaches of Aeonia have also answered the call for duty.

You, one of those Livingbounds, you were asked to report to Aegnor Mordan, an elven commander who has spent many moons guarding a small outpost in the outskirts of Heptapyrgion.

Schedule

10:00 Time of Arrival

10:30 Briefing
Registration, weapons check and game briefing. If you have not filled the sign up form ask the field GM for a pre-written character.

11:00 Game Start
Festivities with music, dance and games.

15:00 Game End & Debriefing
As the sun sets the festival winds down. The people gathered there say their farewells and return to their homes to rest after a plentiful harvest. Debriefing will follow.

Adventure Mechanics

Sashes & folds
Players will at a time wear one of the colourful sashes. Each colour symbolises one of the Penumbra folds that is closer to one of the other 6 veils. (see key lore points for information regarding the Penumbra). At any point the players may  exchange their sash with another player or object in order to cross to the next fold. Players cannot exchange the same colour sash.

Each sash will include a task, on the inside, that the character is required to accomplish. If for whatever reason the player crosses a fold (exchanges their sash)  they will acquire the fold’s bane. 

Banes
When a character crosses the fold without completing a task they get a bane that must be resolved with the help of the other players and under the guidance of the captain, when everyone is ready to return to the world of the living. Otherwise, the bane will be carried into the living world and the character has to either learn to live with it or resolve it in the future. 

Interaction with other characters
The characters can only interact with other characters that are in the same fold, namely they are wearing the same colour sash. When the characters are in different folds they can only see a vague silhouette of the others and cannot hear them. 

The Captain
The captain will not wear any sash  but characters will always be able to hear his whispers no matter in which fold they are on..

The Tree
The characters can always see & touch the Tree as if it was in the same fold. However,  it can answer verbally and the characters hear it only when they are in the “World Tree” fold meaning that the character wears a green sash.
